Description

Traditional trench sheet style U shaped plastic pile, with curly trench sheet style interlocks. Standard colour is black.
Max Angle of Rotation
27 degrees
Best Features
Designed to interlock with existing steel trench sheets to ensure complete continuity of the piled wall. High angle of rotation permissible between piles so can make quite a tight radius.

Cost
Cheap

Strength
Low ¼ that of the L8 trench sheet
Drivability
Limited as this is a light gauge sheet, can be impact driven but some top damage is likely in moderate to hard ground types. Can be used with a vibrator – the EMV70 so long as supported with a side sleeve, as the pile will not tolerate direct clamping at standard pressures. Unsuited to the Movax Lite, or other more powerful vibrators. Has and can be driven using light compactor plate but more typically hand driven or placed in an open trench and then buried.

Typical length used
1-2m, on occasion 3m lengths have been driven to a depth of 1.5 -2m, but much will depend upon ground conditions.
Interlock pull out resistance
Low, the curly clutch design is not that strong
Stiffness
Quite rigid, but has a shallow design and so in lengths exceeding 2m it will be very flexible
Durability
PVC pile and so main concern is UV exposure, extra UV filters added during manufacture, so in normal conditions exhibits quite high durability. Impact resistance low, can crack if not properly supported. IZOD impact test results are available.
