Please note that for all sheet piling applications there is a requirement for a certain amount of force to install a pile in to a specific ground type.   Small hammers, particularly hand held do hold appeal for access restricted sites, but they do have limited force and on some occasions this will not be sufficient.

Handheld Pile Drivers

APE has recently introduced the new PD1 hydraulic Post driver into its range.  This was  due to the increasing requirement for hand held equipment.  At 29kgs, this unit is much lighter and more mobile than the APE mini hammers, but still is a significant weight to reduce bouncing on the pile.  

The design is clearly suited to timber posts, but has been adopted for the installation of plastic piling.  For wide plastic piles, we endeavour to supply a fabricated cap; this spreads the load to reduce sheet damage.  It has to be appreciated that these caps are fabrications and will likely become damaged during the hire and so will be charged as a consumable.   APE carries caps to suit most of its own sheets, including Ultra U, Europile, MultiLock and ProLock.   For other makes of sheets, it is more common to use the driver direct through the use of a basic slotted guide as this is a more durable and universal option.   

Since the introduction of the PD1, we have been surprised by the popularity and high utilisation levels.  If there is interest in hiring this type of product, please provide as much notice as possible.
